Best Posture for Putting

Putting is all about touch, feel and finesse. It’s about feeling comfortable over the ball and positioning yourself in a way that allows you to make a smooth, tension free stroke while squaring the putter face to your intended line at impact.

There are 3 elements we’re going to cover today.

1) Arm position:

Take your putter, grip it.
Now, stand up straight while extending your arms straight out in front of you at shoulder level. The toe of your putter will be pointed up to the sky.
While maintaining your grip on the putter, pull your arms back towards your belly until the inside of your slightly bent elbows contact your rib cage.

2) Bend:

Maintain your grip and arm position while you bend forward at the waist until the sole of your putter rests on the ground directly behind the golf ball.
Square the putter face to your intended line. You are now in a very good putting posture.

3) Foot position:

Adjust your foot position so you are in a comfortable, stable stance, ready to make your stroke.

Practice this until it becomes routine and automatic, and your putting consistency will dramatically improve.
